Samsung has unveiled the new GearS2 smartwatch, the company’s latest offering in wearables. Samsung Gear S2 comes in a versatile, circular design with an intuitive, custom UX and advanced features that enable users to enhance, personalize and bring more fun to their mobile experience. The watch comes with a unique rotating bezel, along with the Home and Back buttons making the user experience better.
The smartwatch runs on Tizen based wearable platform.
On the specs front, the watch comes with a 1.2-inch (360×360 pixels) Super AMOLED display with 302 ppi and is powered by 1 GHz Dual-Core processor with 512MB RAM and 4GB internal memory. Similar to other smartwatches, the Gear S2 is also IP67 Certified Dust and Water Resistant. The Gear S2 comes in three variants- Gear S2, Gear S2 3G and Gear S2 Classic.
The 3G variant has option for call and 3G via SIM card. Apart from this, all the variants come with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. The sensors included are accelerometer, Gyroscope, Heart Rate, Ambient Light and Barometer. The Gear S2 and S2 classic comes with 250mAh battery while the 3G variant has 300mAh battery.
Users can stay connected with at-a-glance notifications to check calendars, e-mails, news and can even send important texts directly from their wrist. Samsung Gear S2 comes with NFC technology which will enable mobile payments without the need for a wallet. Samsung claims that the battery will last for 2-3 days with these features.
The Samsung Gear S2 will be available in a Dark Gray case with a Dark Gray band and Silver case with a White band. The Samsung Gear S2 classic will be available in a Black case with a Leather band.
