While most of the Fitness Trackers are into tracking steps, calories burnt, and if you are doing a workout correct, Backtrack is trying to do something different. We really don’t post a lot of stuff from Startups for obvious reasons, but the concept behind Backtrack is worth knowing.
First, this is a shape based wearable which goes along the line that human body bends. If you are serious about your workouts, you should be serious about doing it right as well. This becomes even a concern if you recently recovered from an injury. This is where this wearable wants to place themselves into — How You Move is what matters.
That said, unlike other wearable, this should be worn on the back, along side of your spine. As its bendable, it bends as you bend. The sensors track data points like pressure, angle of movement and so on. Technically, it uses IMU sensors combined together to sense relative position and shape. The data is then sent to your phone over Bluetooth.
All the activities can be visualized via the app on the phone. You get to see how was the pressure on different points, if the distribution was equal, and so on. You can scroll your time line to visualize how much improvement you made over time.
The overall concept of Backtrack looks impressive. We would love to see the product mature and improve over time. Do check out the project here
