We have seen different types of fitness trackers in various forms and features. Now, LeapFrog, the company behind popular kids’ educational electronics is debuting what it calls the first wearable health-tracker for children. Called LeapBand, the wrist wearable device will be able to monitor the fitness levels of kids by parents.

LeapBand is basically designed for kids ages 4 to 7 and gives kids various types of commands like “wiggle like a worm” or “pop like popcorn” and then rewards the activity by giving points that can be used to unlock special game features on the band.

The device has option to connect to website or the app from where parents can monitor the activities. They can select from a list of physical challenges and make sure that their kid is healthy. Presently obesity is one of the major issues for kids and this tracker helps parents to encourage fitness. LeapBand is expected to be priced around $40 which makes it an affordable device for parents.

One of the major difference between adult fitness trackers and kids trackers is the way it collects data. With federal regulations which call for special practices regarding the collection of data from children younger than 13, LeapFrog says it will be only providing this data to parents but will not e used by the company.

LeapBand is not the first wearable for kids, we already covered hereO smartwatch for kids which allows parents to track the location of their kids online.
