Apple had announced their first wearable device, the Apple Watch few days back and the device will go on sale in 2015. According to Digitimes, LG Display will supply the AMOLED displays for the Apple Watch when it launches in 2015. The report also says that Apple will receive around five million displays a month in 2015. Apple plans to release the device in the first quarter of 2015.
The sources also mentioned that Apple aims to sell upwards of 50 million Apple Watches in 2015, which seems to be a big number considering wearables is yet to go mainstream, but expected to have great growth in the coming years. Apple was also in talks with Samsung for the AMOLED panels, but finally decided on LG.
The Apple watch which was announced last week will be available in three editions and will start from $349 although Apple has not announced specific prices. The watch will also come with six available casing materials and six different bands and also two different sizes.
