Smartwatches and wearables have been dominating the CES 2015 and we covered some of the new innovations from the event. Consumer GPS solutions pioneer Magellan, announced their new Echo Fit Sports Watch, that has the activity and sleep tracking ability. Echo Fit comes with a high-resolution LCD display with an optional to invert background and character shading from black to gray.
It connects to your phone via Bluetooth LE and is designed to track your activity 24 hours a day, including steps, distance travelled and calories burned. It can also track your activity when doing different sports, such as running, cycling and golf.
The important aspect of the watch is that it runs on a replaceable coin cell battery that doesn’t need charging and lasts up to eight months. Magellan Echo Fit is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. The company also announced Magellan Active App, which will enable watch notifications for incoming messages, phone calls and email. Using the app, you can also view notifications from third-party apps, wirelessly sync activity and sleep statistics and upload data to the Magellan Active website.
The app will be available later this quarter.
The Magellan Echo Fit is available now in the US for $129.99 or for $179.99 for a version with a built in heart rate monitor. There is no mention on the global roll out yet.
