Microsoft Kicks off Windows 10 IoT Core Insider Preview for Raspberry Pi 2 & Arduino Powered Devices

If you been waiting ro Windows 10 IoT version, the day has come. Microsoft announced today Windows 10 IoT Core Insider Preview for Raspberry Pi 2 & Minnowboard Max. This version of Windows 10 is free for any one to try and develop whatever they wanted to do, while a full release is expected this summer.

Windows 10 IoT

Good thing is that Microsoft hasn’t stopped with this. They also have partnered with Arduino to develop a version of Windows 10 which can be employed to even greater number of devices. Important to note that even Lumia 530 has well over $200 worth of Arduino shield sensors and capabilities.

Windows 10 IoT will be able to communicate over cloud using Azure as the backend, while in the front can be a universal app on Windows Phone or even Windows Desktop where an image could be seen in case of motion detection. The initial release includes two key capabilities:

  • Windows Virtual Shield for Arduino enables developers to tap into the incredible power of Windows 10 devices through wireless protocols.
  • With Windows Remote Arduino we’re enabling developers to extend their Universal Windows Application with Arduino commands that execute on a wirelessly-connected Arduino device. It combines the power of Windows 10 device features such as image processing, speech recognition, website parsing, cameras and advanced audio pipelines with the power of physical world interactivity through Arduino.
