Misfit, one of the older companies to get into fitness trackers has finally updated the Shine fitness and sleep monitor. Dubbed as Shine 2, the new tracker leverages the best of Shine’s elegant aesthetic and introduces powerful new functionality.
Misfit claims that Shine 2 can track activity and sleep more accurately than its predecessor with a 3-axis accelerometer and newly added 3-axis magnetometer. Shine 2 continues to have the subtle way of showing time by looking at the halo of rainbow-colored lights. More importantly, Misfit has added capacitive sensing technology, which means much improved touch responsiveness. With the new Misift Link app, users can also use Shine 2 to control music, take selfie or interact with other internet connected objects.
Misfit Shine 2 can track steps, calories, distance, light and deep sleep, and can also differentiate between different activities like swimming, basketball, tennis, soccer, yoga, dance and others. The vibration motor provides inactivity alerts, gentle wake up alarm and notifications. It continues to have the 6-month battery life which made the original Shine so popular. It comes with 12 LED lights which can display over 16 million colors and are bright enough to be seen in direct sunlight.
The Shine 2 is also water resistant up to 50 meters and is made of anodized aircraft-grade aluminum. It comes in two colors – carbon black and rose gold (ahem!). The Misfit Shine 2 will be available in retail locations worldwide on November 1st with a suggested retail price of $99.99 in the US.
