Philips has been a pioneer when it comes to LED lighting system and their HUE family of smart bulbs are revered across the world. Finally, the company will be bringing the HUE to Indian market, and has scheduled a press conference on September 8th in Bangalore.
These smart bulbs can change colors as you wish, get dim or bright on a tap, can pleasantly wake you up in the morning, can try improve your mood, and can even keep you informed about the weather outside. Yes, it connects to your smartphone (Android or iPhone) and lets you control multiple HUE lights from anywhere you are. And the best part, it can fit right into your existing light fittings.
In this growing world of Internet of Things, smart bulbs have a special place. From Samsung to LG to Philips, several companies have been trying to cash in to this growing tribe of smart things. HUE has been one of the most popular smart bulbs and competes with the likes of of Lifx. In the US, a single HUE bulb can cost around $60, while the starter pack comprising 3 smart bulbs and a bridge can set you back by almost $200 (approx INR 13,400). In a price sensitive market like India, it’s very important for Philips to get the pricing right.
We are still not sure if Philips will bring all the products under the Hue family of LED lights to India. Just yesterday, the company announced a brighter, expandable Hue Lightstrip Plus. Let’s wait for September 8th when we actually get to know about the pricing and availability of Philips Hue in India.
