Will.i.am’s New Puls Smartwatch is a Stand-Alone Wristband with Built-in 3G

Popular musician and now a tech entrepreneur, Will.i.am has unveiled the Puls Smartwatch at Salesforce’s Dreamforce conference in San Francisco. The watch is a stand-alone device, which means you don’t need to pair it up with a smartphone to use it effectively. It ships with a software suite that includes Facebook and Twitter connectivity, Instagram, and even integration with Salesforce. It also features a Siri like voice control system dubbed “Aneeda” that’s powered by Nuance, through which users can set reminders, control music, set alarms and more.

In addition, it has the expected photo, email, contacts, call, texting, calculator and fitness functions. According to will.i.am, it took him 35 engineers and 2.5 years to build this wearable. Internally, it sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, has a whopping 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It also sports GSM 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, a pedometer and accelerometer. It also has built in speakers for music and alerts while the battery is built beneath the strap.

The Puls has a couple of fitness apps like the one which lets you share your workout information with another Puls user. There’s also an emotion detector. The Puls comes in black, white, blue and pink. Also, there are high-end Lux versions in gold, and gold with diamonds.

Apparently, the Puls Smartwatch is running a forked version of Android, and this might possibly mean that Android Wear apps can be side loaded on to Puls as well, although will.i.am hasn’t said anything on this regard. Pricing and launch date haven’t been announced yet, either. But will.i.am says it will go on sale through AT&T in the U.S. and O2 in the U.K. just in time for the holidays.
