Going in league with the wearables boom, Spice Mobiles, a company based in India, has launched a new smartwatch which has standalone phone functionality. The new device launched by the company is called Smart Pulse Watch which is based on Java platform and is compatible with Android phones. The best feature of the device is that it comes with standalone phone functionalities with dual SIM cards. The phone does support 3G, so you can get internet connectivity on the move without your phone.
So instead of having a smartwatch which pairs with your smartphones for notifications, Spice has launched a phone in the watch form factor. There are so many constraints and most important one will be the batteries powering the dual SIM cards. There is also the heating issue found in most smartphones and how it will have an impact when wearing it.
Key Features of the Smart Pulse Watch:
- Standalone phone functionalities on dual SIM
- Pairable with Android smartphones (4.3 and above) for remote access
- Access contacts, SMS and Calls
- Make and Receive calls
- Operate music, pictures and gallery remotely
- Remote camera capture
On its own, the Spice Smart Pulse will be able to make and receive calls, handle texts, browse the web, play videos and music. It works with phones running Android 4.3 and upwards and comes with memory that is expandable to 8 GB.
The device will come with a free Bluetooth headset and two extra wrist-bands as well. The Smart Pulse has been priced at Rs.4,999 (~$83), with the best buy price of just Rs.3,999 (~$66) which looks like a good deal. But we need to check how well it works, as there are multitude of phones in watch form factor being sold on eBay. The phone will be available exclusively from HomeShop18.com from July 11.
